International Women's Day Panel + Q&A
On Wednesday 9 March, the day after International Women's Day, Exciton Science is hosting a panel discussion and audience Q&A to address the actions required to close the gender gap in STEM.

There will be a focus on encouraging girls to study STEM subjects at high school, undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The panel will also particularly address the issue of how to retain women researchers beyond PhDs and initial postdoc roles to mid-career and continuing positions.
Confirmed to participate are:
- Victoria's Lead Scientist Dr Amanda Caples;
- Dr Katie Allen MP, Member for Higgins;
- STA Vice-President Dr Anita Goh of the National Ageing Research Institute and the University of Melbourne;
- Professor Anita Ho-Baillie of the University of Sydney;
- Exciton Science Chief Operating Officer Kate McGeoch;
Dr Mohammad Taha, co-chair of the Victorian chapter of Queers in Science, and a researcher at the Melbourne School of Engineering.
The event will be moderated by Science Journalists Association of Australia President Bianca Nogrady.
This will be a hybrid in-person and online event. Our panellists and the moderator will be joined by a live audience at RMIT University in Melbourne. We will also stream the proceedings live via Microsoft Teams Live. Please click here to join the event via Teams.
