Ben is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Prof Tim Schmidt’s research group at UNSW, aiming to characterise and develop singlet fission materials for Si photovoltaics using ultrafast spectroscopy.
Ben obtained his PhD from Imperial College London (2019-2023) under the supervision of Dr Artem Bakulin. There, he developed multi-pulse (“pump-push-probe”) ultrafast spectroscopies to understand hot carrier dynamics in bulk and nanoscale perovskites. Prior to this, Ben received his MSci Chemistry degree from the University of Bristol (2015-2019), where he was awarded the Richard N Dixon Prize. His final-year research project involved understanding gas-phase photodissociation dynamics under Profs Andrew Orr-Ewing FRS and Mike Ashfold FRS.
